The Asian Institute of Management Policy Center (APC) is set to release to the press the results of the World Competitiveness Yearbook (WCY) 2010 on May 20, 2010 at the AIM Conference Center Manila, Makati City. The yearbook is reputed as the worldwide reference point on the competitiveness of nations, ranking and analyzing how an economy manages the totality of its resources and competencies to increase the prosperity of its population. Over the years, it has been a key reference of investors, analysts, and decision-makers in assessing country performance. At the press conference, the center will show how the country fared in terms of economic performance, government efficiency, business efficiency, and infrastructure against 58 other countries from across the globe.
Also to be discussed are the competitiveness rankings of the country in the past nine years under President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and what President-elect Benigno Aquino III can do to address the challenges.
Lastly, invited representatives from the public and private sectors are expected to give their response on the Philippines’ performance this year at the press conference.
The APC is the Philippine partner-institute of the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) for the World Competitiveness Yearbook. IMD is responsible for producing the publication. The partnership between APC and IMD has been running for 14 years.
